Description
THE COMPANY CLERK: SHOWING HOW AND WHEN TO MAKE OUT ALL THE RETURNS, REPORTS, ROLLS, AND OTHER PAPERS, AND WHAT RO DO WITH THEM….By Capt. August V. Kautz, Sixth U.S. Cavalry, Colonel Second Ohio Vol. Cavalry. PHILADELPHIA: LIPPINCOTT & CO., 1864. Hard cloth with gold embossed eagle on shield front cover, 142 pages, a few fold-out pattern forms.
Pretty self explanatory as to content. Lippincott advertising of other military publications on front and end papers.
Owner signed on front inside cover, “Jonathan A. Kenny, 1864.” I did not find him listed in Civil War data.
Fine condition, only some color fading to spine and some on front cover. A great companion piece for the field desk display. Paperwork was always a serious problem for many officers and clerks during the war, creating great problems with the various departments requiring return forms.
