Description

Mann Cartridge Box.  The small box which one had the single strap that tied into the Mann Brace, removed for early Indian Wars usage.  The flap is boldly marked in the oval, “US” – “COL. MANN’S PATENT REISSUED JUNE 7TH 1864 / E.GAYLORD MAKER CHICOPEE,MASS.”  Also stamped “J.S. Shepard” in rectangular box, and “US.” on flap.  The original ring for easy removal of the ammunition tin.

The stitching of entire box, ears, tool pouch, and closure tab are all strong.

A great example in fine condition.
