Description
CDV Of Captain John Horner – Cole’s Cavalry. John Horner, brother of Oliver A. Horner, both served in the 1st Potomac Home Brigade Cavalry (Cole’s Cavalry). John enlisted as a captain in Company “C” on August 27, 1861, and remained with “Cole’s Cavalry until he resigned his commission in June of 1862.
Photographed by Israel & Co., Baltimore, with cancelled revenue stamp.
During his time of service, Horner would have seen action at Maryland Heights, Md, Mechanicsville Gap, Va, and Winchester, Va.
Cole’s cavalry (1st PHB cavalry) are quite scarce.
