Description
CDV – Major General William Henry French By Brady. A full standing image is French with period ink ID on the lower mount.
French graduated from the USMA Class of 1837, and entered the army in the artillery, Gen. French saw service in the Mexican War, He received brevets for Ltcol. for gallant service at Fair Oaks, Va, and colonel for Antietam, Md., brigadier and major general for Chancellorsville, and meritorious service during the war respectively. French retired in 1880.
