CDV – Seated Federal 1st Lieutenant in Sack Coat.

His forage cap insignia lacks regiment number within the horn insignia. His shoulder straps look to be Smith’s Patent types. The uniform overall appears to shows little wrinkling one would expect  from several days in the field, and he may not have been assigned as yet?

A fine image, sharp and cleanm, but has clipped corners. No Photographer information.

Noted on the back that the image taken in “February 1863.”
