CDV – Captain E.N. Kirk Talcott 1st New York Engineers – SOLD

E.N.K. Talcott, enlisted in August of 1861 as a 2nd Lt. in the 1st New York Engineers. He mustered out at Richmond, Va. on June 30, 1865. He was later promoted in the ranks of 1st Lt. and Captain.

Possibly signed by Talcott in pencil on the reverse, “Lt. E.N. K. Talcott, 1st N.Y. Vol. Engineers.”

This unit served mostly in the Dept of the South, with some time under command of the Army of the James.  Their biggest action took place at Fort Wagner, SC where they took their heaviest losses of the war.
