Civil War Cap Box Made By Robert Tillson & Co. Quincy, Illinois -SOLD

Civil War Cap Box Made By Robert Tillson & Co. Another scarcer cap box like the Henry Head box listed elsewhere on site. Tillson was later a partner with Henry Head, also a contractor from Quincy, Illinois.  This box is in the 1864 pattern, and the name is stamped on the inner flap, “ROB’T. TILLSON & CO. / QUINCY, ILL.”

Overall, the flap and outer surfaces are crazed with one wide strip of leather finish worn away, which is very old.  No wool fleece remaining.

Still a good example to fill the gap for contracted Civil War cap boxes.
