Model 1850 Ames Foot Officer’s Sword.  A nice example of an Ames foot officer’s sword, with honest use, and wear, exhibiting strong amount of gilt finish on all furniture. The sharkskin grip is fine showing no defect, and has the original wire still attached.

The scabbard is very good -fine with some crackling, and one area that shows it was once bent with stress crack on one side. Drag is missing the retaining screw, as the drag will fall off.

The 30.5 inch blade still retains most of the original bright etched areas and frosty finish, mixed with some minor blemishing, mostly toward the tip.

A nice honest sword.
