Description
1863 Modified Artillery Curb Bit With US Bosses. A nice example of the 1863 bit for artillery with changes to the original pattern, this having been tin plated and brass cast bosses added, as on the 1859 pattern. Marked “U.S.” in the inside cheek piece, and “US” on the front left side of the port.
Strong traces of tin plating remains on a bit that shows use, but not rust, and abuse.
Very good condition of a bit reissued in the late 1860s for Indian Wars usage.
