Description

1880 Pattern Dress Knots -For A Captain -1st Infantry.  Nice examples of the Indian Wars Army officer’s shoulder knots worn from 1880 to 1902.  White ground with silver regimental number and captain’s bars directly applied.  The gilt cording is in fine condition retaining most of the original finish with some light toning.  The buttons are high domed general staff types, and may or may not be original to these knots, but I’ve seen these mismatched before in identified lots. Scarcer button maker markings, “Goodwin’s Pat. July 27. 75.”

The white wool ground is overall in fine condition having only very minor moth issues, just some foxing on one. Some mothing on the back side in the blue wool.

No maker markings.

Very good plus, one strand of silver bullion missing from numeral on one knot.
