1880’s USN Passed Midshipman’s Shoulder Loops.  A fine quality pair of should loops hallmarked with the Horstmann brand on the brass slides.

Made of fine gilt bullion in double rows separated and bordered with fine gilt twisted wire. Gilt bullion anchors applied to black wool.  The buttons are cuff sized USN eagle on fouled anchors, also marked Horstmann.  Leather backed.

6 inches long.

Passed midshipmen are those midshipman that have passed the lieutenants exam, and eligible for promotion into that rank.

Fine condition with only lightly toned bullion.
