Description
This variant of the 1902 artillery insignia was made by the manufacturer in two-piece construction; the center section determining the branch either being field or coast artillery. Also applied is the cross for the regimental chaplain. I can’t imagine that every CAC company had it’s own chaplain (the regimental system did not exist for Coast Artillery for some time to come), thus, I believe, making this a rare item. Sew-on loops.
38mm
Excellent condition.
From the Robert Borrell Artillery Collection.
