A scarce and early 1902 pattern insignia in silver metal.
This scarce and early insignia adopted in 1902 for the field artillery, with the short stubby cannons similar to the 1895 pattern, and in this case, made in silver and using the natural collar of the metal, versus the regulation gilt. Seeing the natural silver metal was also another trait seen on the 1895 Undress coat collars.
The wheel, with red enameling was used for the field artillery until 1905.
One piece construction, with loops for sewing on the uniform. Marked “SILVER” only.
