Description
Introduced in 1902, this pattern cavalry officer collar insignia was short-lived when replaced in 1902, however many officers still wore this for some time after. This sterling example of the sew-on type was most likely purchased by an officer of the 3rd after returning from the Philippines in 1902, and most of the regiment was stationed in Montana, and Wyoming, with a few companies in Idaho, and Arizona.
A thin wash of gilt remains on the sterling, more in protected areas.
Nice untouched patina overall.
50mm long.
Fine condition.
