Description
This false embroidered officer’s collar insignia is very close to the U.S. regulation 1902 cavalry officers insignia, in shape and size. The hollowed stamped gilt brass displays the initials of the old and honored First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry.
These were applied with 4 wire prongs that were used to secure the insignia to the collar. Most of the original gilt finish remains evenly on both sides.
This ancient organization has its beginning on the evening of the first meeting of the Continental Congress in September of 1774, and has played a role in the military history of the U.S. Army to this present day.
Not a large organization, making this insignia a difficult piece to acquire.
Fine condition.
