1902 Era Officer’s Saddle Cloth Insignia – Coast Artillery Corps. Brass molded insignia that is un-cut, and may have been filled with lead with attachment loops incorporated into the lead. (lead was used to weight the saddle cloth to prevent it from flying up in wind. I have seen these painted with red enamel within the center oval, or left plain.
