Description

1902 Field Artillery Dress Coat and Cap belonging to a F. Spallone.  The Contract label is from the Philadelphia Depot Q.M. Department., No inspector initials.  The aiguillette is a bright and in very good condition.   There are U.S. insignia on the collar, corporal chevrons and 1st Class Gunner patch on both sides.  There is a 1st Class Gunner pin on the left breast, the back is marked with “C Battery 4th Field Art” (Pin will be bagged and put inside the inner pocket for safe keeping.)  There is no size marked inside the coat, I measured armpit to armpit and its about 17″, so I will estimate this as around a size 34. The cap has insignia on the front for the 4th Field Artillery, Company F.  Inside on the sweatband, “F.S.” are punched out with small holes.  On the inside of the sweatband, “No. 48 F. Spallone” is marked in pen.  There is half of a size label inside and it looks to read 6 1/2.

In overall very good condition; the coat has a few small areas of wear along the bottom edge.  The cap is very clean, the sweatband is separated in several places and shows staining and wear.  Some blemishing to the insignia, the 1st class badge has a broken clasp.

Please refer to the photos for condition and detail.
