25th Army Corps Badge – Plain Tin Sew-on Type. The plain stamped tin with two square loops has holes punched at the corners for sewing onto either the frock coat or forage cap. This type is seem in the Corps Badge book by Stanley Philips on page 101, with a T-bar pin applied. It measures an inch square, and has an untouched patina.
The 25th AC, of the Department of Virginia, and later the Dept. of Texas, was active from February of 1865 to January of 1866. The Corps were made up of 30,000 some black soldiers.
A scarce badge.
