He was taken prisoner at the battle of Chancellorsville, on May 3rd, 1863, and later paroled, rejoining his regiment at Wauhatchie, on November 17, 1863. He mustered out with his regiment June 12, 1865 at Bladensburg, Md.
The oval albumen image appears to have been reframed (in a period frame) some time later. Zapt is wearing his federal frock coat, and forage cap; bot seem rather new, and possible the photo was taken after his enlistment.
Condition overall is very good, but has some damage having been out of a frame for a time, and some miner cracking from bending/ poor storage. Still a worthy piece with nice history.
Oval frame is 11.5 inches high; image is 7.5 inches high.
