Description
Army Air Forces Type AN-M8 Flare pistol, aluminum frame, black Bakelite pistol grip. Manufacturer marking on right side of frame, “EVCC” (in triangle – Eureka Vacuum Co.). The flare gun takes a 37mm cartridge that loads from a hinged breech. The lugs near the muzzle of the barrel are for mounting into a socket so the flare gun can be fired through the fuselage of a large crew sized aircraft such as the B-27. It could also be used as a conventional flare gun.
Serial No. on grip, E-191596.
Mechanically fine, with wear to black finish on handle and breech plate. The aluminum finish overall is smooth and even. A nice example.
