Description
Australian Made Fighting Knife With Hollow Aluminum Handle. An unnamed theater made knife, having a 7 inch clip point blade, with shank visible through the hollow aluminum finger grooved grip. The oval guard appears to have been molded with the grip. No markings visible.
The original leather sheath his hand sewn all around with 2 brass rivets at the throat area. The leather extended from the back of the sheath to form a simple double slotted belt loop. Smooth leather on the front, with a rough back leather.
There was a large shortage of fighting knives available to U.S. Troops in the early days in the Pacific, and Army as well as Marines bought whatever could be found. Some Australian makers made small quantities under contract.
Both knife and sheath are in very good condition. An interesting Pacific Theater made knife.
