“B & T” Marked Civil War Cavalry Carbine Sling Swivel.

This all iron snap swivel was use with a leather sling worn over the shoulder of a cavalryman, to prevent the loss or dropping of his carbine. The snap hooked into the ring mounted on the left side of the carbine.

This type has only the markings on the inner snap, “B & T,” most likely a contractor that supplied these to the Federal army during the Civil War.

Condition is very good with light patina, tiny pits and blemishing.  Functional and fine for display on the sling.
