Description
A boxed Spanish War medal, No. 6697 and belonging to Captain Hiram W. Snyder, Co. “K” 4th Infantry, NGP.
The medal and ribbon are in fine condition with only light soiling and a few tiny areas of wear to ribbon. Contained in the box marked in the inner lid, “Mint of the United States, Philadelphia, PA.” are the early ribbon bar with mounting loops and rings, a blue leather 3rd Division campaign hat/ forage cap badge (without any number or letter), and a red silk cross; how it pertains to this group I don’t know. Interesting addition however.
The box has two broken corners that can easily be mended, otherwise fine.
The 4th PA. was mustered into federal service in July of 1898, and did see service in Puerto Rico.
A nice set.
