Description
The 154th Pennsylvania Infantry had enough companies to form a regiment by December of 1862, but before any field officers had been commissioned, seven of the companies were detailed for special duty leaving only A,B, & C companies remained together. These 3 companies were assigned to provost duties in the city of Philadelphia during their nine month service.
Robert M. McClure, the commanding officer, was previously a captain in the 4th Pa Reserves, later in the 33rd Pa Vols., and promoted major in June of 1861. He was discharged from the service in May of 1862.
The period of printing is no later than May of ’62.
Condition is fine, with typical folds, small tears (some repaired with acid free tape). Size is 6 x 9.5 inches.
