Cabinet Photograph of a 2nd Lieutenant of Artillery – San Francisco Photographer, Taber, 8 Montgomery St.  This officer most likely was stationed at the Presidio.  The upper coat button shows an “A” in the shield, and he has a saber/sword pin mounted on the lower collar area.

Nice, clean portrait. No ID. Looks very much like Captain Allyn Capron, a Rough Rider captain killed at Las Guasimas, Cuba.
