Cased Colt ’49 Two Line New York Address Pocket Revolver.  4″ Barrel, 5 shot, .31 caliber.  Serial No. 138982.  Manufactured in 1858.

Small trigger guard, and back strap retain nearly all of the original silver plating with untouched old blueish patina.  Outstanding condition overall with nearly all blue finish, on barrel, and light wear on cylinder. Top flat of barrel has two line address, “ADDRESS SAML. COLT-/ NEW YORK CITY.”  Great stage coach scene, and cylinder pins excellent.  Excellent case colors on frame and loading lever.  All matching serial numbers, Excellent walnut grips.  Markings and mechanics Excellent.  Any blemishing seen on metal surfaces is dried oil, as found condition.

The Colt case is lined in red velvet, and having a contoured interior (missing upper right wall of compartment,) holding an eagle flask with most of the original lacquer, combination tool, brass mold marked Colt’s Patent, and earlier type without grease groove, and 6 original Eley marked cartridges. The lid lining as applied the retailers paper label embossed in gilt for “Kingman & Hassum / Makers of Fine Cutlery, & Surgical Instruments, 128 Washington St. Boston.” This firm was working from 1855 -1860, then became Hassum Brothers.  The outer case is fine overall.  A gorgeous set made just prior to the Civil War.
