Description
CDV – 1st Lieutenant Eben S. Edgerton – 7th U.S. Colored Infantry. Lieut. Edgerton has signed the back, “yours truly / E.S. Edgerton / 1st Lieut. 7th U.S.C.I.” He enlisted in August of 1862 as a sergeant in Company G, 128th New York Infantry, and was discharged for promotion in October of 1863, as a 1st Lt. into Co. H. 7th USCI, and resigned in October of 1864.
The 7th saw a good deal of action during the later part of the war in Virginia.
