Description
CDV – 1st Lieutenant Samuel C. Pinney – 6th Mass Infantry. 2nd Lt. Pinney enlisted in the 6th Mass Infantry in 1860, and went through the Baltimore Riots with company D. on April 19, 1861. The regiment quarted in the Senate Chamber in the Capital, and performed guard duty around the Washington area.
Pinney was again mustered into the 9th month, regiment, in August of 1862, guarding around Washington, and stationed in the City of Suffolk, Va. while General Longstreet’s confederate forces were menacing that area, eventually seeing action in that area and having casualties before returning north.
The 100 day stint, was more guarding in the Washington Capital, and at Fort Delaware guarding Confederate prisoners. Pinney and the regiment mustered out in October of 1864 at Readville, Mass.
