Description
CDV – Brigadier General Godfrey Weitzel.
Bust image taken by E. Jacobs, New Orleans. Weitzel commanded a brigade in the 19th Corps under Nathaniel Banks in Louisiana, later chief engineer of the Army of the James under General Benjamin Butler, seeing a good deal of action in Virginia. He was later promoted to brevet major general in the 25th Corps, leading Colored Infantry in North Carolina.
Very good condition.
