A nice view of a Mass Militiaman with type Mass two piece belt buckle; “My boy Horace.”
The notation on the back was most likely written by the father of this Massachusetts soldier identified simply as, “My boy Horace.” His uniform is the regulation frock with forage cap, but typical of Mass militiamen, his belt and buckle are the remnants of the early war uniform.
Photographed by Black, Boston.
Very good condition.
