Description
Frederick Dexter was a 21 year old merchant from Brookline, Mass. when he enlisted in the 1st Corps of Cadets in May of 1862, and saw service at Fort Warren, Boston Harbor. Later, he mustered into Co. “B” of the 45th Mass Vols. in September of that same year, and was discharged for disability in January of 1863 at New Berne, NC.
Dexter probably saw action at Kinston, and Whitehall, NC. He was promoted to Sergeant in September of 62.
