Description

This Civil War period image of a NYS infantryman, is identified, but I can’t make out the name, so that is a project for the next owner.

He is wearing his dress gray uniform, and a shako that is of the type worn before and during the war period. Taken by Chamberlain, 603 Broadway, NYC.  Signed on the back in pencil, “William P……His name October 2 New York City.”

The black ostrich plume covers the shako plate, but I am saying 4th New York because in another image just listed with this one, this same soldier is in full standing pose (sans moustache).

Fine condition.

Michael McAfee Collection.
