CDV – LtCol. William Chapman 3rd US Infantry.
Chapman graduated from the USMA Class of 1831, service in the Blackhawk War, Mexican War and, Utah Expedition. Constructed Fort Union, New Mexico in 1861. Promoted for gallantry at 2nd Battle of Bull Run, 1862.
