6th U.S. Army private image, signed on the mount. Gettysburg veteran.
Private Lars Christian Prydz enlisted in February, 1863, in Chicago, Illinois to serve 5 years. He joined this regular Army regiment in time to see combat at the Battles of Chancellorsville, and Gettysburg, He continued to serve during the Reconstruction period in Charleston, SC, where he died of inflammation of the lungs in November, 1867.
This full standing view shows Prydz leaning on the back of a Victorian chair in studio, holding his forage cap. He signed the mount below the image. The CDV was taken by WM.J. TAIT, New York. He was married in 1850, in Christiana, Norway, to Flora M. I am including 3 photo copies of documents from the National Archives.
Very good condition with some slight soiling, and clipped corners.
Nice regular Army image.
