Description
CDV – Signed Image For Lieutenant Lindsey H. Stockbridge 4th Mass Cavalry.
Lindsey H. Stockbridge, of Haverhill, Mass. enlisted in September of 1861, as a private into Co. L of the 1st Mass. Cavalry. He transferred out in June of 1863, into the 10th Veteran Reserve Corps, and being discharged on March 30, 1865. Stockbridge was commissioned into Co. L, 4th Mass. Cavalry on April 30, 1865, resigning in late July. During his service with the 1st Mass. he held rank as corporal, sergeant, and 1st Sergeant. He was commissioned as a 2nd and 1st Lieutenant in the 4th Mass Cavalry.
Signed on the the lower image and mount, “LH Stockbridge/ Lieut 4th Mass Cav.” Nice clear signature.
Stockbridge is wearing a sack coat in this image taken by J. Taylor, New York, with cancelled revenue stamp.
