Description
Matthew Brady has captured two 33rd Pennsylvania infantrymen with their accoutrements on, while holding their M1842 rifled muskets. The 62nd was re-designated the 33rd P.V.I in November of 1861. With the soldiers wearing the federal uniform, I am assuming that is photo was taken from Nov. on.
The private on the right is wearing puttees, and a bowie knife is stuck in his belt. Both are wearing Berlin gloves for either parade, or guard mounting.
The image was remounted, assumedly by Mike. This was likely unmounted and intended for mounting on this type of card, or stereo card. The mount is new, the Brady marking is reproduced as well. The image is completely original. Brady was no doubt the original photographer.
Very good condition, a bit light, but clear to see arms, equipment and uniforms.
From the Michael McAfee Collection.
