Civil War Artillery False Embroidered Cross Cannons Insignia & Brass Mold. This officer’s small insignia has a dark patina to the brass, and the two prongs for attaching to cap are present. It measures 36mm in length.
The brass mold is an exact match for the insignia. The mold is too deep for being used to emboss paper, etc., but seems to flimsy to be the actual mold for make the insignia. What purpose it has if not for molding the insignia, I’m at a lose to know what for.
