Civil War Cap Box Made by Henry Head, Quincy, Illinois – ON HOLD

$185.00

Civil War Cap Box Made by Henry Head, Quincy, Illinois.  Head was contractor who made saddles, harness, and accoutrements during the war, and was at one time partnered with Maitland Boon.  Head produced on his own 10,000 1864 pattern accoutrements (assuming sets), delivered in March of 1864.

This box is marked on the inner flap, “MANUFACTURED BY / H. HEAD / QUINCY. ILL.” It retains the original cone pick.

Overall is very good in untouched condition, with some surface flaking on the upper outer flap at the bend area, on the high spots of belt loops, and around the closure tab.

Not a commonly found cap box.
