Civil War Cavalry Carbine Cartridge Box Made by J. Cummings, Springfield, Mass. A nice box with typical wear, not a lot of crazing to the leather however.  Inspector stamp on front flap, and maker name stamped on the inside flap.  The box has a wood block drilled for 20 cartridges that will hold .52 caliber Spencer rounds, or some other paper/ linen cartridges for other model carbines. There is also a tool, accessory compartment.
