Bullion Federal Eagle all complete.
These Civil War officer’s Hardee Hat eagle are just fantastic pieces of military insignia. Beside the branch and regimental insignia worn on the front of the hat, this one was worn on the side, holding up the brim on one side.
Made of gold bullion thread and sequins and sewn on black velvet. A heavier gilt wire is used for embellishment around the shield and rim. The reverse is back in a brown polished cotton. Two brass loops for affixing to the Hardee hat, are soldered to a tin plate that gives insignia form.
No history with this one. An excellent example.
