Civil War Soldier’s Neck Stock. Original issue leather stock with original buckle and adjustment strap. Leather showing age and wear, but displayable. An issue component to soldiers intended to wear around the neck to serve several purposes; create an more military bearing by keeping the head upright in inspections, and protecting the neck from wounds, etc. (for instance, saber strikes- really?). Issued to both the Army and Marines, (thus the name “Leathernecks” for marines had stuck for a good time afterwards).
Very good. Not a commonly found item this days.
