Dated & Named 1830 Brass Capper made by “H. Ness”. Due to the size of the caps used, this was probably made for pistols. Made entirely of brass, with a steel spring inside to allow a single cap to slide under the hole. reloading the cap in place may have been achieved by flinging the hand downward to setting the next cap below the hole. A brass button on the side opens the lid for reloading; two hinges hold cover in place with a locking stud held down by a bend the the same spring. Engraved with the name, ( I believe) “H. Ness / 1830.”
5.5 inches and in fine condition.
