Description
Early War 4 Screw Colt Army Revolver.
This early four screw Colt Army Revolver was manufactured in 1862. An excellent inspected Colt revolver with a 8 inch barrel and having the New York City Address. Serial No. 37307. All matching numbers and retaining a good deal of the original finish, mixed with a plum patina.
The .44 caliber barrel has nice blue on the underside and in protected areas. Nice feathering is still strong around the front site lever locking stud. Some case colors in protected areas of lever. The cylinder some blue behind rebate and stops, and the engraved naval battle scene is fine. Cylinder stops overall are fine.
The hammer case colors are fine, and case colors on frame are very nice, with a strong percentage remaining. Back strap and butt have 65% or better blue. frame screws still retain very good blue as well. The walnut grips are fine with a very good inspector stamp on the left side.
Excellent mechanics, metal very clean with some minor blemishing, and all matching numbers. Number on the has a few weak numbers, this caused by a weak stamp, not wear.
A great looking early war 4 screw Army revolver cut for shoulder stock. A excellent example. More color on the gun from this point would have an exponential rise in value.
