Federal Period US Stamped Socket Bayonet

Federal Period US Stamped Socket Bayonet.  This bayonet has several characteristics of the 1795, and my be one.  There seems to be several variants- transitional types.  This on has a 15 inch blade, 1 1/8 ” wide, with a socket that is 2 5/8 inches, and has a fuller that runs for approximately 7 inches.  The slot for the bayonet stud is 9/32″.  The blade is heavily struck with a “US” stamp.

In untouched condition, with areas of rust, and light pitting, heavier in some areas.
