French made binoculars & case identified to a British Officer, the case is marked and dated 1917.
The Soldier’s ID – “G. Battle” is marked above the date of 1917 with roman numerals “II X” below the date of 1917.
The case itself is in very good condition, typical wear on the surface from use and age of the item.
Buckle and strap to close the case still intact and functional, leather straps are all supple with wear.
The binoculars have a twine cord attached to either end, light wear on the leather wraps, around both ocular lens’ it is marked, “L. PETIT FABT PARIS”.
The binoculars have a very nice, clear view when used.
When adjusting the focusing knob, markings on the slide eye pieces appear and are marked, “Mk. V. Spl. 66920” and the letter “H” with two other symbols.
The case measures approx. 6.75″ x 2.75″ x 5.75″; Binoculars measure approx. 4.75″ x 6″ x 2.25″ at their most extended positions.
