I have had this image some time now; the general has that, “what do you expect, I just came out of field look.” Rosecrans had some showing in the western theater as commander of the Army of the Cumberland, but a misunderstanding of a verbal order cause a good portion of his army to run off the field of battle at Chickamauga. Grant replaced him with Gen. George Thomas.

The photographer is Bogardus, New York.

Has an old ink inscription on the reverse.

Fine image quality.
