Description

The grouping is for a collection of paper items belonging to Everett Hughes Upton, who enlisted in the AAF in WWII and later was a civilian employee in the U.S. Military Government working at the Nuremberg War Crimes Trials.
The grouping consists of:
  • 9 3/4″ x 12 7/5″ Hardcover book titled “Nurnberg”, by Charles W. Alexander.  Copyright 1946.
  • The book shows the aftermath of the war on the city, the site of the War Crimes trials, and scenes of the trials and the accused. Some of the photo titles are: Palace of Justice, Court House Gate, Defendant’s Dock, The Tribunal, Justice Jackson, Top — Leaders, A Witness, Accused Under Guard, Cell Block and S S at Work to name a few.
  • There are 53 full page images within the book.  The covers have some light wear, fading and blemishing.  The spine is intact, but is rigid.  The pages have some light fading / blemishing.
  • 1934 Dated Student’s Pilot License – United States of America Department of Commerce Aeronautics Branch – “Qualified for Transport Pilot”.  Has some light wear and blemishing.  Measures approx. 6″ x 4″ as displayed in the photo.
  • 1940 dated Registration Certificate with the Selective Service for Everett Hughes Upton.  The card has some wear, fading and smudging to the writing.  Measures approx. 4″ x 2 1/2″.
  • 1942 Dated Letter to Everett H. Upton’s mother from Colonel W.A. Robertson, regarding her son’s acceptance into the Pilot training program in the United States Army Air Forces.
  • Certificate to Everett H. Upton from The White House for his service during WWII.
  • U.S. Army Hand Baggage Tag for Upton from Camp TOPHAT to ZI.  The tag shows Upton traveling from Detachment I-338, Co. A, 3rd Military Government Regiment, APO 403, U.S. Army and also 3rd Reinforcement Depot, Marburg, Germany.  Measures approx. 6″ x 3″; has some light wear, fading and creasing.
  • 1946 Dated Motor Vehicle Operator’s Permit for Upton.  On the permit it indicates that Upton was a civilian employee in the U.S. Government, working at Nurnberg War Crimes trials.  The permit has some light wear, fading and blemishing.  Measures approx. 4″ x 5 1/4″ as displayed in the photos.
  • 1949 dated Letter to Upton’s mom regarding his work overseas with the U.S. Government and future endeavors.  The two page letter comes with the cover.
  • Cancelled Passport for Upton with several extra photos attached via paperclip.  The passport is filled with stamps from travels.  All of the pages have been cut / punched through.  Measures approx. 7 1/2″ x 6 1/8″ as displayed when opened (as seen in the photos).
  •  A small assortment of paper documents, letters and other paper items pertaining to Upton.  All in good condition.
