The mounted musician’s shell jacket of the Civil War period have always been very desirable uniforms for collectors. This artillery shell jacket is a large size made at Schuylkill Arsenal with markings in the left sleeve lining.  Both linings have size markings (ink having cloth to hole in this immediate area).

I don’t see any mothing, Color and condition are vibrant throughout. All the line is intact.  When I purchased the jacket, one upper button was in the breast pocket, and the hook at the collar, came off when placing on mannequin (these will be re-sewn properly back in place.  The shoulder scales are originals.

There was a time when these jackets were in the 5 figures, but have come down aways. The only way to improve on this jacket is to find one identified, and or with chevrons, but then the price will reflect that.

A gorgeous piece of Civil War cloth.
