Massive Pile of Skeletons at Colon Cemetery, Havana, Cuba C-1898 cabinet photo. American troops found this boneyard of skeletal remains at the Colon Cemetery, created by a Spanis as a “pay-up or be dug up” policy, where remains were exhumed when families were unable to pay rents for the cemetery plots. These remains were not killed by the Spanish, but dug up to entice citizens to pay their rents.
Size: 4.5 X 8 Inches. NOTE, the bright blur on the image was made by the camera, as the image in person is a fine overall photo.
