This lot of material came from different sources, but all relates to the famous WWII B-17 Memphis Belle, consisting of a small painted piece of the Belle from the “left wing root fairing.” It measures 5mm square, and is framed with a new color photo of the nose of the bomber and a printed description, all in a modern frame.
The next item is a wartime published booklet, “25 MISSIONS – THE STORY OF THE MEMPHIS BELLE,” July 1943, and marked “RESTRICTED.” There is a forward by General “Hap” Arnold, a brief history, list of the missions with date and location, brief bio’s on the crew members, and a full photo spread of the crew. Illustrated stiff paper cover, 36 pages, and identified to the owner, “Orazio” and a few pages of “plane facts,” another wartime publication. Fine condition.
The last item is a reproduced WWII black & white photo of the crew in flight clothing, and signed by Robert Morgan, with his unit designation (“324th Bomb Sqd/ 25 Missions”). This autographed photo was signed and comes with a certificate of authenticity from NOSTALGIC AVIATION INC. with a seal dated 1992. Photo and autograph are in excellent condition.
